Job Title: Long Term Substitute
Job Status: Full- time/ Temporary position
Reporting Functions: Reports to School Principal
Job Function: The Substitute Teacher fills in for the classroom teacher in their temporary absence. The long-term substitute teacher will construct lesson plans, daily activities, and guides students in the classroom setting.

Responsibilities:
- Maintain a well-managed classroom and safe, positive learning environment.
- Performs duties usually required of absent teacher such as recess and lunch duty, hall monitoring, etc.
- Create lesson plans, grade classwork, homework and tests and attend parent-teacher conferences.
- Provide appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning.
- Knowledge on emergency evacuation routes, school procedures and regulations for the classrooms assigned.
- Supports the school in stimulating and advancing the ongoing development of an organizational culture characterized by a commitment to faith, continuous learning, quality, integrity, mutual respect and Catholic values.
- Models the expectations of the school and diocese according to the mission and vision espoused, as well as those expectations set forth in the school and diocesan handbooks.
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal or his/her designee.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or Education related field.
- Teaching certification is a plus.

- Able to maintain a high level of energy. Ability to respond calmly to overwhelming and difficult situations.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, high degree of credibility, integrity, and self-confidence is essential.
- PRIOR TO INTERVIEW: Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check as required under Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Act 153 of 2014 (atleast 1 year old.) As well as attendance at a Protecting God's Children class and Mandated Reporter Training.
Physical Demands: The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear; frequent use of equipment including repetitive motions and computer eye fatigue; possible biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, lift and/or move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks and other classroom equipment; may occasionally climb stairs or ladders. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word: hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.
Working Conditions: Normal classroom setting. Normal work hours are 7:40am-3:15pm, Monday through Friday. May be required to work outside normal hours to attend meetings, open house and workshops.
