A Message from Bishop Schlert

My dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, As you may have heard, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has delayed the release of an expected Grand Jury Report on clergy sexual abuse in six Pennsylvania dioceses, including the Diocese of Allentown. It is unknown how long the Court’s order will remain in place. I want you to know that the Diocese of Allentown has always cooperated with the Office of the Attorney General and the Grand Jury process. Neither I, nor the Diocese, nor any diocesan official has attempted to block or delay release of the Report. I will be addressing the topic of clergy abuse in more detail after the Grand Jury Report is released. Please join me in praying for the victims and survivors, and for all those hurt by child abuse, wherever it occurs in society. With an assurance of my prayers for you and your families, I am Sincerely yours in Christ, Bishop Alfred A. Schlert
