Cleveland bishop, Diocesan priest to headline annual men's conference

More than 500 people are expected to attend the sixth annual Men’s Conference sponsored by the Diocese of Allentown’s Commission for Men and Stewardship a Mission of Faith. The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 4th from 9 AM to 5 PM at DeSales University in Center Valley. The theme of the conference is “Lord, to whom shall we go?”

For the first time there will be two tracks at the conference, one for English speakers and one for Spanish speakers.

The keynote speaker for the Spanish track will be Diocese of Cleveland Bishop Nelson Perez, a former priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Deacon Ramon Lima, co-founder of the National Association of Hispanic Deacons, will also present. Deacon Lima was born in Cuba and came to this country in 1960. He was ordained in 1977 as part the first class of Permanent Deacons for the Diocese of Brooklyn.

The English-speaker track will feature talks from Father Bernard Ezaki, a priest of the Diocese of Allentown assigned to St. Frances de Chantal Parish in Easton; Father Stan Fortuna, C.F.R., one of the eight original members of the Community of Franciscan Friars of the Renewal,; Peter Herbeck, vice president and director of missions for Renewal Ministries based in Ann Arbor, Michigan; and Marty Rotella, an award-winning singer, songwriter and producer from Elizabethtown, PA.

Men who attend the conference will also have the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and conclude the day with Mass celebrated by the Most Reverend Alfred A. Schlert, Bishop of Allentown.

Registration is $40 through the October 23 deadline. There is a special rate of $10 for all men attending the Spanish sessions as well as young men in high school or of college age. Registration includes continental breakfast and lunch. To register, please visit www.CMFDA.org
