Prayer Service for Reconciliation in Our Nation to be Held Friday

People throughout the Diocese of Allentown are invited to pray for healing of the wounds of all the divisions present in our society on Friday, June 19, the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

A Prayer Service for Reconciliation in Our Nation will be held at 7 p.m. that evening at the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena. Monsignor Thomas J. Orsulak, pastor of St. Peter the Apostle Parish, Reading, will be the Homilist.

The service will be open to participation of the faithful, observing social distancing guidelines currently in place. It also will be livestreamed on www.ad-today.com.

Priests around the Diocese have been encouraged to offer time for the Sacrament of Reconciliation at their parishes on that day as part of the diocesan prayer effort.

Bishop Alfred Schlert has said that the root of all forms of division and bigotry is a general disregard for, or an inability to see, the humanity present in the other.
