Catholic Charities Moving Offices to Better Serve Those in Need

Catholic Charities is moving the location of its Allentown office to get closer to the clients it serves.

As of Nov. 1, the agency will be at 402 W. Chew Street, across from St. Luke’s Sacred Heart Hospital and a stone’s throw from Allentown Central Catholic High School.

“Catholic Charities is always looking for ways to better connect with the community,” said Rob Nicolella, executive director. “We’ll be a block away from Career Link, and very near the hospital and a community health clinic.”

It’s a neighborhood of inner-city Allentown where there are many people who rely on Catholic Charities services. In addition to better proximity, the new location also will offer more space for Catholic Charities.

The building, known as Seton Hall, once was the dormitory for students in the former Sacred Heart Hospital nursing school. It will not be the first time Catholic Charities has operated there. According to Msgr. Walter Scheaffer, past president and member of Catholic Charities’ Board of Directors for more than 30 years, the building served as the Catholic Charities office around the time the Diocese was founded in 1961.

While the physical location will change, the way to find Catholic Charities by phone and online will not. For more information, or if you need one of the services provided by Catholic Charities, call them at 610-435-1541 or visit their web page at https://www.catholiccharitiesad.org.
