A pilgrimage of 41 faithful visited Lourdes, Fatima, and other holy sites with Queenship of Mary, Northampton and its pastor, Father Patrick Lamb.
A tour of relics from one of the most quickly canonized saints stopped Oct. 11 in the Diocese of Allentown to be venerated by hundreds of faithful at the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena, Allentown and St. Anthony of Padua, Easton.
The following is the Diocese of Allentown’s statement on its receipt of a federal subpoena: “The Diocese of Allentown is responding to an information request contained in a subpoena from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The Diocese will cooperate fully with the request, just as it cooperated fully with the information requests related to the statewide Grand Jury. The Diocese sees itself as a partner with law enforcement in its goal to eliminate the abuse of minors wherever it may occur in society.”
Bishop Schlert said God will use the new building and turf field “thanks to your goodness, to instruct a new generation in the faith.”
“I wanted to have Evening Prayer for the young adults in the diocese to remind you about what I said to you when I became bishop. That is, you are the treasure of the Church and the future of the Church,” said Bishop of Allentown Alfred Schlert Oct. 13 during Solemn Vespers for young adults at Holy Ghost, Bethlehem.
Jason Bach leads a busy and rewarding life as a high school teacher, adjunct college professor, husband, and proud parent of twins. But he also makes time to volunteer as an instructor for the Diocese of Allentown’s One in Christ Marriage Preparation Program.
When Monsignor Robert Wargo was a young boy, his mother would regularly pick flowers from their yard for him to present to his teachers and neighbors. Through the years, he developed an appreciation for the cheerful annual flower and soon after his mother’s death in 2013, Monsignor Wargo attempted his green thumb at growing the flower.
The San Placido Society carried the statue of San Placido through the streets of the south side of Easton marking the 100th Anniversary of the society with the annual procession.
Tom Ortwein, the first head football coach of the Crusaders of Notre Dame High School, Easton was honored at a 60th anniversary ceremony.
