The Catholic Cemetery Conference, an international Roman Catholic faith network of cemeterians and suppliers, has elected Msgr. William Baver treasurer of its Board of Directors, effective Oct. 14. The election was held during the 67th Annual CCC Convention and Exposition in Orlando, Florida.

Father Rodgers among honorees for Alvernia Franciscan Award

Father Philip Rodgers, pastor of St. Benedict, Mohnton, was among honorees who received the Franciscan Award – the university’s top honor – Oct. 13 at the annual President’s Dinner of Alvernia University, Reading. Father Rodgers received the award along with Elsayed Elmarzouky and Rabbi Brian Michelson.

Formation of Parish Pastoral Councils gaining momentum

Parishes in the diocese are following the examples of active and successful Parish Pastoral Councils (PPC) as more and more parishes are activating councils to help the parishes prosper. Training to assist parishes in initiating PPCs – a body of parishioners who prayerfully discern the needs of the parish and then advise their pastors accordingly– was offered Sept. 17 at St. Mary, Hamburg, where pastors with PPCs already in motion and diocesan officials outlined the roles and benefits.
