Job Title:  Summer Meals Coordinator                               

FLSA:  Non-Exempt

Department:  Kitchen/Community Center

Summary:

This part-time position involves coordinating staff and volunteers for a summer lunch program for youth.  The position also coordinates activities for the youth and the distribution of food to address food insecurity of the participants.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Distribute meals from the sponsor.
  • Coordinate programming needs and schedules to ensure positive and age-appropriate interaction with the youth.
  • Provide services to adults as needed/appropriate.
  • Generate reports, records, and forms.
  • Gather and coordinate food for distribution to youth and their families.
  • Oversee and volunteers.
  • Ensure the site is clean at the end of each program day and provide a positive relationship with the building owner.
  • Communicate building maintenance issues to Administrative Office.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Willingness to work within the guidelines of Catholic Charities’ Mission and values.
  • High School graduate or equivalent of work experience
  • Some experience working with volunteers.
  • Ability to organize and conduct a summer lunch program.
  • Communication and organizational skills
  • Able to set and adjust priorities, as needed.
  • Aptitude for working with individuals/families and managing difficult situations.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and to set and adjust priorities.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Adept at Microsoft Word and, Excel.
  • Must have the ability to pass all applicable clearances on a yearly basis.  Including but not limited to FBI, Child Abuse and State Police.
  • Must complete required Mandated Reporter Training (MRT) within 3 weeks of start date and every 5 years thereafter or when dictated by agency, Diocese of Allentown, and/ or Commonwealth Law. 
  • Must complete Protecting God’s Children Training (PGC) within 3 weeks of start date and monthly online bulletins, as well as any recertification, for the duration of employment.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone.  Use of hands to operate standard office equipment; with occasional reaching and lifting to 20 pounds is required.
  • Employee is required to be able to travel and organize perishable and non-perishable goods necessary for distribution on a weekly basis.
  • Employee is regularly expected to move throughout the site to maintain a safe environment.
  • Employee is required to be able to drive their car to various community locations; the ability to drive to those locations safely is required, unless exceptions are explicitly recommended by the Program Director and approved by the Executive Director, or in keeping with ADA requirements.

Working conditions: 

  • Food program/kitchen setting
  • Must be willing/able to travel to stores, community gardens, food depots, churches, etc., when required by supervisor or programmatic needs.
  • Must demonstrate respect and professionalism toward all clients in all interactions.
  • Work hours are Monday – Friday 11:00 – 3:00; some additional hours may be required for planning.
  • Program to begin June 12, 2023, and end August 25, 2023; training prior as provided;
  • May occasionally be required to work additional hours above and beyond regularly scheduled hours.
