Director of Advancement and Development, Saint Catharine of Siena School

The Saint Catharine of Siena Director of Advancement and Development is responsible for the recruitment and retention  of students. They are also responsible for the planning, organizing, and directing all of Saint Catharine of Siena’s fundraising including PA tax credit program, the Saint Catharine of Siena Endowment Fund, annual fund, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns.

  • Possess strong interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Have knowledge and experience in fundraising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising.
  • Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and other volunteers.
  • Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships.
  • Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
  • Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals.
  • Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability.
  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • Three years minimum experience in professional fundraising.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Recruitment of new students. This includes handling all inquiries, conducting initial meetings with parents and/or students, and promoting Saint Catharine of School
  • Management of the data system to track inquiries, applications, registrations, event attendance, school visits, off campus events, and other data that will lead to increased enrollment
  • Monitoring and updating electronic communication tools such as the website, Facebook, and email communication so that prospective families can interact with the Saint Catharine of Siena Catholic community beyond school hours
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of all school policies, rules and regulations.
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of all current school programs (academic, athletic, etc.)
  • Collaborating with Principal, Board, and staff in the implementation of multi-faceted admissions and marketing programs
  • Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications with them.
  • Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors.
  • Oversee grant seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.
  • Build the endowment fund with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies.
  • Direct the annual fund program, including mailings and annual fundraising drives.
  • Direct capital campaigns and other major fundraising drives.
  • Coordinate fundraising special events.
  • Work closely with the Pastor, the Principal, and Board of Limited Jurisdiction.
  • Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about our annual fund, endowment fund, and the PA Tax Credit Program with the community.
  • Assist in coordinating advancement calendars
  • Identify potential PA Tax Credit Donors
  • Serve as a point person on special events throughout the year
  • Assist in the production of the annual appeal and endowment newsletters
  • Staff Board Development Committee meetings.
  • Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.
  • Supervise and collaborate with other fundraising staff.
  • Oversee creation of publications to support fund raising activities.
  • Maintain gift recognition programs.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.
