Accounting Manager, Diocese of Allentown

The Diocese of Allentown is seeking an Accounting Manager for its Administrative Offices in Allentown, PA.  In concert with the strategic direction of the Diocese, the Accounting Manager manages and records in the general ledger all aspects of billing, deposits and cash application, banking transactions, account reconciliations and related reporting for the diocesan administrative office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Prepare and distribute monthly invoicing, and reminder statements on past due invoices.

2. Deposit funds, primarily by remote deposit capture.

3. Maintain daily cash balance and cash flow reports for all bank accounts, and reconcile, or support the reconciliation of, the general ledger to their bank statements.

4. Act as liaison to the banks related to the management of accounts, credit card receipts, and other banking transactions (eg: wire transfers, ACH’s, etc.).

5. Monitor, reconcile (adjusting where necessary), and reports for various diocesan campaigns, funds, and organizations supported through service agreements.

6. Assist in the development of the annual budgets, and completion of the annual audits.

7. Perform special projects or other assignments as directed.

Educational Requirements:

Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

Other Requirements:

1. Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience.

2. High Level of proficiency with Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, and Outlook.

3. Managing electronic files and folders.

4. Experience using accounting software, preferably Microsoft Business Central.

5. Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.

6. Demonstrate teamwork and flexibility, with the ability to identify and implement process changes resulting in increased productivity and/or quality.

7. Ability to follow procedures and work independently with little direct supervision.

8. Maintain confidentiality regarding Diocesan activity.

9. Valid driver’s license with good driving record.

10. Knowledge of the Catholic Church, with an understanding of its structures, functions, and institutions.

11. Support the Mission, Values and Vision of the Diocese of Allentown.

Working Conditions:

1. Normal office environment. May be required to attend meetings or perform duties at other locations or work remotely occasionally.

2. Normal workdays and hours are Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm (total of 35 hours/week). May be required to work in excess of normal work hours, including evenings, weekend and/or holidays due to seasonal, project, or other needs.

Pay:  $65,000 - $75,000 per year
