Newest Diocesan priest will be ordained June 3

A Whitehall man will be ordained to the priesthood in ceremonies at the Cathedral of Saint Catharine of Siena in Allentown on Saturday, June 3 at 10:30 AM. The ordaining prelate will be Diocese of Allentown Bishop Emeritus Edward Cullen

26 year-old Rev. Mr. John F. Rother has been preparing for the priesthood at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary near Philadelphia since 2009. He is the oldest of three children born to MarySue and John F. Rother, Sr. He was educated at St. Elizabeth Regional School in Whitehall and Allentown Central Catholic High School. At St. Charles, Rother earned a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Master of Divinity and Master of Arts degrees. He is a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish in Whitehall.

During his diaconate year Rev. Mr. Rother was assigned to the Cathedral of Saint Catharine of Siena in Allentown.

After his ordination, the new priest will be assigned as a parochial vicar (assistant pastor) at a parish in the Diocese of Allentown.
