The Most Reverend Edward P. Cullen, D.D., Bishop of Allentown has appointed Reverend Michael E. Mullins to the newly created post of Assistant Director of the Office of Vocations. The Office of Vocations oversees the selection and formation of candidates for the Diocesan priesthood.

Father Mullins will assist Reverend Francis A. Nave who is the Director of Vocations, a position he's held since 1998. Since March Father Nave has also been pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Bath.

Father Mullins, 35, was born in Astoria, NY. His family moved to Pennsylvania when he was 16. He is a 1989 graduate of Emmaus High School. He received a Bachelor's degree from Kutztown University in 1993. Before entering St. Charles Seminary, where he prepared for the priesthood and earned two Master's degrees, Mullins served in the United States Air Force. He was ordained a priest two years ago and has been serving as assistant pastor at Holy Guardian Angels Church in Reading.

There are currently 19 men preparing for the priesthood for the Diocese of Allentown.
