Because We Are Catholic: In Need of Prayers? Send an Email

Holly Magalengo, advancement director of Bethlehem Catholic High School, reviews e-mailed prayer requests with Fr. Kevin Bobbin, the school’s chaplain.

The holiday season can be stressful. It’s a time when some people feel the most alone, the most vulnerable, the most in need of prayer.  Now, thanks to the students and staff of Bethlehem Catholic High School, a quick email is all it takes to ask for prayerful assistance.

“We’re here to pray for anyone who feels like they need it,” says Holly Magalengo, the school’s advancement director. “It’s a way for us as a school to help our community.”

Anyone, whether they are Catholic or not, is invited to send a prayer request to this email address: BecahiPrayForUs@becahi.org. Prayer requests are printed out and placed on the altar for daily Mass celebrated by Father Kevin Bobbin, high school chaplain. All in attendance are invited to pray for the emailed intentions.

The school publicizes the prayer-request email address on its social media accounts. “It’s nice to see something like this on social media,” Magalengo says, “when everything else seems so negative.”

The email prayer request service is available anytime during the school year. “We’re happy to do this, to provide a reminder that God is among us,” Magalengo says. “We believe strongly in the power of prayer.”
