Transitional Deacon to be installed at cathedral

Diocese of Allentown Bishop Emeritus Edward Cullen will ordain a Coaldale man a transitional deacon in ceremonies at the Cathedral of Saint Catharine of Siena in Allentown on Saturday, May 20 at 10:30 AM. A transitional deacon is one step from becoming a priest.

28 year-old John A. Hutta II has been preparing for the priesthood at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary near Philadelphia since 2012. He is the son of John A. and Diane L. Hutta and stepson of Cindy R. Hutta. He was educated at public schools in Tamaqua and graduated from Tamaqua Area High School. He graduated from Alvernia University in Reading in 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy.  At St. Charles, Hutta earned a Master of Divinity degree in theology. He is a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Palmerton.

 Hutta will spend the next year promoting charity, proclaiming the Gospel and administering the Sacrament of Baptism before being ordained a priest next spring.
