Carbon County man to be ordained diocese's newest priest

     Rev. Mr. John A. Hutta II of Coaldale, a transitional deacon, will be ordained to the priesthood at ceremonies at the Cathedral of Saint Catharine of Siena in Allentown this Saturday, June 2 at 10:30 AM. This will be the first priesthood ordination presided over by Diocese of Allentown Bishop Alfred A. Schlert.

 

     Rev. Mr. Hutta, 29, has been preparing for the priesthood at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary near Philadelphia since 2012. He is the son of John A. and Diane L. Hutta and stepson of Cindy R. Hutta. He was educated at public schools in Tamaqua and graduated from Tamaqua Area High School. He graduated from Alvernia University in Reading in 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy.  At St. Charles, Hutta earned a Master of Divinity degree in theology. He is a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Palmerton.

 

     During his diaconate year, Rev. Mr. Hutta was assigned to St. Anne’s Church in Bethlehem. After his ordination Saturday, the new priest will receive his priesthood assignment.
