Marriage Enrichment Programs

Worldwide Marriage Encounter (WWME): the emphasis of WWME is on communication between husband and wife, who spend a weekend together away from the distractions and the tensions of everyday life, to concentrate on each other. It's not a retreat, nor a marriage clinic, nor group sensitivity. It's a unique approach aimed at revitalizing Christian Marriage.

Retrouvaille (for struggling marriages): the word Retrouvaille is a French word meaning rediscovery. The program offers tools needed to rediscover a loving marriage relationship. Thousands of couples headed for cold, unloving relationships or divorce have successfully overcome their marriage problems by attending the program.  The Retrouvaille Program consists of a weekend experience combined with a series of 6-12 post-weekend sessions over 3 months. It provides the tools to help put your marriage in order again. The main emphasis of the program is on communication in marriage between husband and wife. It will give you the opportunity to rediscover each other and examine your lives together in a new and positive way.

In an article from our own AD Today, WWME and Retrouvaille are compared in an interview with Father Andrew Torma, M.S.C., a Retrouvaille presenter.

"Some people wonder how Retrouvaille is different from Marriage Encounter (ME).  Father Torma has presented for both programs: ME since 1978 and Retrouvaille since 1992.  Father Torma explained, 'ME strengthens a marriage; Retrouvaille saves a marriage. We say you deserve Marriage Encounter, and you need Retrouvaille.'

When asked how the program evaluates success, Father Torma responded, 'It doesn’t. The couple does that. Personally, I see many couples leaving the weekend with a sense of hope.'"
