Commission for Women

What is the Commission for Women?

The Commission for Women of the Diocese of Allentown exists to encourage and support the evangelization of women, and to enrich them in their roles as daughters, sisters, aunts, mothers and wives. It provides opportunities for women to become Disciples of Christ and to grow in their relationship with Jesus and with other Catholic women in our Diocese.

Our Mission

The Mission is to provide opportunities for women to experience conversion and transformation. This mission is carried out through parish-based groups, diocesan days of spirituality, retreats and other spiritually-enriching initiatives.

In 2006, The Commission for Women adopted St. Catherine of Siena as our patron saint.

St. Catharine of Siena
St. Catharine of Siena, pray for us!

Displaying holiness, discernment and wisdom, she became a trusted advisor to her bishop and an asset to the Church. Looking to St. Catherine as our role model, the Commission relies on the prayers of this holy woman to guide us in our service to the Bishop and the Diocese of Allentown, PA.

Prayer to St. Catharine of Siena

O Saint Catharine of Siena, God our Father enkindled the flame of holy love in your heart as you meditated on the Passion of Jesus His Son. Moved by His grace, you devoted your life to the poor and the sick, as well as to the peace and unity of the Church.

Through your intercession, may we also come to know the love of Jesus, bring His compassion to all, and work for the unity of His Church. We ask this in Jesus' Name for His sake. Amen.
