EITC ALERT!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!! EITC FUNDING TO BE CUT BY $35 MILLION

We want to make you aware of a very real threat to the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program that funds EPSF scholarships and ask for your help to protect this important program that has meant $2.1 million in scholarships to the schools of the Diocese of Allentown for the upcoming school year.

We are asking for every school, parent, pastor and EPSF donor to help by contacting their state senator and representative to ask them to keep the EITC program's funding at $75 million in the 2009-2010 state budget.

On May 6th, the PA Senate passed a budget calling for the EITC program to be reduced by $35 million. Of this $35 million reduction, $23.3 million will come from the elimination of the educational programs for public schools (EIOs) and the remaining $11.7 million from some combination of the k-12 scholarships and pre-k scholarships.

A reduction in EITC funding could jeopardize scholarship funds to your school and will force some of your students into public school. This would be a significant drain on your school budget and negatively impact your enrollment.
