Applying
Please
contact your local Catholic School for an EPSF Application.
Eligible students are school age residents of Pennsylvania,
enrolled in a Catholic School located in the Diocese of
Allentown from a household that has a combined annual
income not to exceed $50,000 (increased by $10,000 for
each dependent). For example, a single parent with one
child and an income that does not exceed $50,000 would
qualify. A household with two parents and one child with
a combined income that does not exceed $60,000 would quality.
Increase the income level by $10,000 for every household
dependent. School age students range from Kindergarten
through graduation from high school or 21 years of age,
whichever occurs first. Pre-Kindergarten students who
are age 3 and 4 qualify for the Pre-K Program.
A
household is defined as either an individual residing
alone or with the following:
a.
A spouse, parent, or their unemancipated minor child(ren).
b. Other unemancipated children related by blood or through
marriage.
c. Other unemancipated adults or minor children living
in the household and dependent upon the head of the said
household.
Application
Procedure
- Applications
are obtained after March 1 and returned to the child's
Catholic School. A separate application form must be
filled out for each student who is applying for a scholarship.
- Application
forms must be completed, along with a copy of the most
recent PA-40 State Income Tax Return (or equivalent)
of every family member of the students household
who files this form.
- If
a family is not required to file state income tax, the
applicant should include a written, signed statement
to that effect and attach it to the application along
with any documentation related to family income such
as Social Security Administration statement of monthly
payment, unemployment compensation, etc.
- The
school will determine the distribution of the scholarship
funds, based solely on need.
- While
families may apply for scholarships from more than one
scholarship organization, the amount of scholarship
funds provided cannot exceed the level of tuition at
the school at which they are enrolled.
- Scholarships
are awarded in June for the next school year.
