Bishop's Annual AppealWelcome!

Through our Baptism and Confirmation we are called to use our gifts to be “One in the Spirit” of Christ. The Bishop’s Annual Appeal provides critical operational support tomany diocesanministries. Your gift will…SUPPLY our charitable organizations with adequate resources to serve those in need. PROVIDE health care for over 75,000members of our community.Maintain three special education centers for over 180 students in Berks, Lehigh and Schuylkill Counties. Care and support our clergy in their elder years. ENHANCE our efforts to attract vocations to the priesthood and support those who are currently training to become priests. SUPPORT Catholic education through assistance grants to our diocesan high school students, Catholic higher educational institutions and diocesan faith formation. Holy Family Manor

We thank God for the blessings made possible by the Bishop’s Annual Appeal in 2007:

  • Our Ecumenical Kitchen served 37,600 meals and celebrated 25 years of service to the people of Allentown.
  • 254 families used Catholic Senior Housing and Healthcare Services.
  • 553 families sent a loved one to Holy FamilyManor or Holy Family Residence, a 9%increase from the previous year.
  • 152 children lived with 57 foster families. 23 children returned to birth parents or relatives. 20 children in foster care achieved permanency through adoption.
  • 760 pregnant/parentingwomen and family members received counseling and other support services.Mercy Special Learning Center
  • Catholic Charities received a Pennsylvania License for Outpatient Behavioral Health and assisted 392 families with counseling in our diocese.
  • Our Special Learning Centers served 180 children and adults across the diocese.
  • 101 children received scholarships to attend Catholic High Schools and the Special Learning Centers.
  • 2,685 individuals were members of a Prime Time Club (Senior’s Club).
  • 78 Refugees were resettled from 7 countries with the most arriving from Burma, Ethiopia, and Eritrea.Bishop's Catholic Scholars


The Bishop’s Annual Appeal serves Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Northampton and Schuylkill Counties. These five counties comprise the Diocese of Allentown.
