PENNSYLVANIA'S EDUCATIONAL IMPROVEMENT
TAX CREDIT PROGRAM
EITC KEEPS YOUR
TAX DOLLARS IN YOUR OWN COMMUNITY
How often have you had the opportunity
to choose how your state tax dollars are spent? Rarely, if ever.
All that has changed because of the Educational Improvement
Tax Credit Program (EITC), a way for businesses to direct
funds that would otherwise go to taxes towards the private education
of Pennsylvania's students. Not only does this improve a student's
chance to receive the education of their choice, but it results
in a tax credit for the business involved and your money stays
in your community. Businesses will receive a 90% tax credit
for a two-year commitment to the program, up to $100,000 annually.
A 75% tax credit is given to those who choose to participate
for one year.
EPSF OFFERS CHOICE-AND A BRIGHT FUTURE
The Eastern Pennsylvania Scholarship
Foundation (EPSF) provides partial scholarships to students
in one of the largest private school systems in the state-the
Catholic schools of the Diocese of Allentown. EPSF takes the funds
contributed by businesses and grants scholarships to students
who attend or want to attend Catholic school. The
goal of EPSF is to provide a Catholic school education to every
child who desires one regardless of the family's financial
situation. The five counties of the Diocese have already benefited
from the contributions of donors like you, but we still have many
families who struggle to provide their children with an excellent
faith-based education or are simply unable to do so.
HOW CAN YOU PARTICIPATE?
If your business pays one or more
of these taxes, you qualify for EITC!
· Corporate Net Income Tax
· Capital Stock Franchise Tax
· Bank and Trust Company Shares Tax
· Title Insurance Companies Shares Tax
· Insurance Premiums Tax
· Mutual Thrift Institutions Tax
APPLYING IS AS EASY AS 1-2-3!
To apply for an Educational Improvement
Tax Credit you simply submit a one-page application form
to the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED)
in Harrisburg. When you receive your approval letter you simply
make your contribution to the Eastern Pennsylvania Scholarship
Foundation. EPSF will send you an acknowledgement letter which
you then send to DCED as proof of contribution. These three simple,
easy steps allow you to help the students in your community get
a great education in the school of their choice. And remember
that EPSF is ready to help you with any questions you have or
application issues that come up.
New applications will be accepted by the Department
of Community and Economic Development beginning July 1, 2003.
There are a limited number of tax credits available so contact
Christine Chew at the Diocese of Allentown, 610-871-5200 ext.
240, or cchew@allentowndiocese.org
as soon as possible to find out more about this outstanding program.
WHAT A WIN-WIN!!
There isn't a better way than donating
to the Eastern Pennsylvania Scholarship Fund (EPSF) to
keep your tax dollars in the area. Instead of going to Harrisburg,
through EITC your taxes help local families afford Catholic school
tuition. Not only are you making a gracious contribution to the
education of today's youth, but you will be receiving a tax credit
of up to 90% of the amount you donated. And your contribution
is deductible on your federal taxes as well resulting in a 100%
tax savings. What an excellent opportunity for your business and
your community!
When you contribute to EPSF you
can designate your donation to any one or more of our 64 Catholic
elementary or secondary schools. If you choose to make a general
donation, EPSF will distribute scholarships to the families with
the greatest need. Why not consider giving the students of your
Catholic school alma mater the opportunity to enjoy the same high-quality,
faith-based education you grew up with? All students deserve the
opportunities Catholic education has to offer - you can give them
this chance.
