VICTIMS' ASSISTANCE COORDINATOR In accordance with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People adopted by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Most Reverend Edward P. Cullen, D.D., Bishop of Allentown appointed Barbara W. Murphy, M.S.W., Secretary of Catholic Human Services and Executive Director of Catholic Charities for the Diocese of Allentown as the Diocese's Victims' Assistance Coordinator. Mrs. Murphy has her Master's degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania and has been a social worker since 1966. Mrs. Murphy will coordinate assistance for the immediate pastoral care of persons who claim to have been sexually abused when they were minors by priests, deacons, or diocesan employees. Mrs. Murphy said, "With my appointment the Diocese is ensuring that those who have been abused or hurt will have an advocate and an opportunity to explore options for counseling, particularly if that has not happened."
