Spiritual
FormationSpiritual
formation opportunities in the program include retreats, book sharing experiences,
and mentoring sessions. In Year 1 and 2 the participants have two annual retreats.
In the third year, participants make an overnight or weekend retreat on their
own. The participants also experience spiritual formation through Summer Book
Sharings, which take place the summer after year 1 and 2. At this event, they
share a meal and share reflections on a spiritual book that all have read. MentoringFour
to six participants gather with an experienced Pastoral Minister or Lay Minister
at the conclusion of each course to process the course content through theological
reflection and sharing. Ministry
VisitsParticipants are expected to partake in a ministry
visit in Year 1 and 2. This provides them with the opportunity to "come and
see;" to observe and learn more about a ministry in which they may be interested.
It is an invitation for them to deepen personal experience, whether it is by visiting
a ministry offered in another parish, such as RCIA or Bereavement Group, or by
visiting an outreach program, such as prison ministry or hospice. Project
in MinistryIn Year 3, participants will select, plan
and implement a project that integrates knowledge and ministry skills. The project
gives them the opportunity to use what they have learned throughout the program
and put it into practice in a particular area of ministry.
